I have tried to hate this song for the better part of ten years and failed listen after listen. Sure the sentiment is a little trite and—as is often the case with Bono—God looms dictatorially over the whole affair. Nevertheless i’m a floozy for those sky-scrape melodies and figured there could be no harm in borrowing U2’s shining, golden, Irish halo for a few minutes (partially as a nod to Achtung Baby!’s 20th) just to see what would happen.
